Cannot power on VM: Invalid cpuid.coresPerSocket value

A VM will not power on with this error message:

cpu-socker-error

The VM had 6 CPUs configured as 6 sockets and 1 core per socket. Changing it to 3 sockets and 2 cores per socket fixed the issue.

cpu-socker-error-2

The reason could be because the host has 4 sockets.
